Red miso paste, also known as Fermented Red Soya bean paste. (Japanese - Jukusei Inaka Miso).
Stronger, saltier flavour than white. Sometimes known as 'awase miso'.
Always add miso to soups and stews at the end, since boiling it destroys beneficial bacteria and causes it to curdle.
