Hon Dashi (Bonito Fish Soup Stock) is an authentic granule Dashi.
It takes its flavour from bonito - a fish from the Tuna family.
Use to create a fish stock for miso soup and noodle soup dishes.
We are often asked - How much dashi should I use? This is a tricky one as Japanese use it a bit like salt and vary the quantity to suit their personal taste.
As a guide - 1 teaspoon(4 grams) of dashi is equal to 4 servings and can be used in approx 500ml of water, but you may wish to experiment with this.
Japanese often make a sauce pan of stock and then keep in the fridge any unused stock for another time.
